Turkish Music

On this page I will tell you all about Turkish music, Turkish pop music and more.

Traditional Turkish music, is like almost every other countries, very slow but can be quite soothing, after all not everybody wants to hear thump, thump, thump all the time.

If you have ever visited Turkey then you will remember sitting in your hotel area, or a local bar one night & they have a so called Turkish Night. This normally includes some Turkish music but will definitely include Bellydancing.
Bellydancing was a big part of the Middle Eastern Culture & the tradition lives on still today especially in Turkey as they know it will entice the tourists into bars etc. Look out for the 'Mezdeke' albums as these are all designed for bellydancing.

Turkish pop music can sometimes sound really moody, even depressing to some ears, but unless you can understand Turkish then you really don't know what they are singing about. After all it may be a romantic love song for all we know. The upbeat Turkish pop though is great, foot tapping songs pumping out great beats give you the feeling of enjoyment & if you buy a couple of CD's, that include songs you have heard whilst on holiday, and listen to them at home you are immediately thrown back to Turkey & your holiday.
Artists to look out for are: Sezen Aksu, Tarkan ( remember Kiss Kiss by Holly Vallance, well that was Tarkan's Simarik),  Nilufer, Mustafa Sandal, Sertab Erener, Rafet El Roman, Goksel, Nalan, to name just a few.

If you are using Windows Media Player, then take a look in my 'Free Downloads' section. There you will find my wmp play list which contains almost all the Turkish Radio & Television internet broadcasting sites. Just follow the instructions on how to install it & within minutes you will be enjoying Turkish music on your computer.
